Bangladesh not get middle income status in 2021

RTNN News Desk: Although Bangladesh is working to gain the middle-income country status in 2021, it will not be recognized by the United Nations in that time due to delay procedure of concerned committee, economists said.


It the concerned committee of the United Nations works as per it`s procedure Bangladesh will have to wait till 2024 to get recognition of middle-income country status.


According to the procedure, a country must be enlisted with the UN committee before six years getting recognition of middle-income country status.


Although Bangladesh is on the cusp of becoming a middle-income country, it has not been yet enlisted with the committee.


According to sources, Bangladesh may be enlisted with the committee in 2018 and as per system it will get recognition of middle-income country status in 2024.
