Foreign support not needed for minority safety: Inu

13 June,2016

RTNN News Desk: Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Monday said Bangladesh does not need help from any other country to ensure safety of the minorities in the country.

Information minister said this while talking to the reporters in a press conference called to inform about the current situation of the country at the conference room of the Press Information Department in the afternoon.

The minister said the minorities are attacked along with the general people as part of the conspiracy going on in the country to embarrass the government and also to curb religious harmony in the country.

According to a report of the Press Trust of India (PTI), the religious minorities in Bangladesh want Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to take up the issue of their security with Dhaka after the recent attacks on Hindus and other
communities in the country.

Inu said there are more than 20,000 temples in the country where religious activities are carried out there on a regular basis. Government is secular in principle, he recalled.
