Buddhist monk chopped by another monk in Cox's bazar

RTNN News Desk: A monk of a Buddhist temple in Cox`s bazaar has been chopped by another monk over land feuds.

 

The incident happened at Uma tarang Buddha Bihar in the district`s Sadar upazila around 7:30am on Wednesday.

 

The injured monk was identified as Upendita, 77. He was admitted to Cox`s bazaar Sadar Hospital in critical condition.

 

Cox`s bazaar Superintendent of Police (SP) Shyamal Kumar Nath visited the scene.

 

President of Uma Tarang Buddha Bihar Mong Thachin told the media that the man who attacked on Upendita was seen by a 10-12-year-old child. He is a drug addicted. He beat and chopped the monk with rod and sharp weapon as he denied giving him money.

 

Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox`s bazaar Sadar Upazila, confirmed the news.
