Case filed over freedom fighter death

RTNN News Desk: A case has been filed over the death of a freedom fighter, Abdul Barik, in an alleged police torture in Jamalpur Sadar upazila.


Shah Md. Mizanur Rahman Mukul, son of the deceased Abdul Barik, filed the case with Railway Thana on Tuesday night.


The accused are OC of Jamalpur Railway Thana Gour Chandro Majumdar, constable Tapon Barua, TC Anisur Rahman and ASI Sohrab Ali.


The freedom fighter died after alleged police torture in Jamalpur Sadar upazila. According to sources, Mazharul Islam Babu, a business student at Rajshahi University and nephew of Barik, was detained for boarding a local train without ticket.


When Barik went to free his nephew, there was an altercation. At one point, Barik fell to the ground unconscious. He was later declared dead at a hospital.
