SUST teachers’ token hunger strike begins

RTNN News Desk: A section of pro-Awami League teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) began their token hunger strike on Wednesday morning protesting the attack on teachers by BCL men on August 30 and demanding immediate removal of the Vice Chancellor.

The teachers under the banner ‘Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhakgon’ sat for the hunger strike at about 10am which will continue till 4pm.

On August 30, Chhatra League leaders and activists attacked the teachers when they came to observe their pre-scheduled sit-in program to press home their demand.

At least eight teachers were injured while two female teachers and six journalists were assaulted during the attack.

A section of SUST teachers has been demanding the VC’s removal since Apr 12, accusing him of misconduct, irregularities and corruption.
