Medical admission seekers block Shahbag intersection

07 October,2015

RTNN News Desk: A good number of deprived medical admission seekers have put a blockade on Shabag intersection on Wednesday demanding cancellation of the results of the admission tests of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

About 300-400 students along with their guardians took position on the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the morning and then they moved to the busy intersection as a procession around 12pm and put the blockade there.

A massive tailback appeared soon on all roads to the intersection.

Khaled Saifullah, a spokesperson of the movement, said they compelled to adopting the way of blocking the road owing to inertia of the government to their demand.

Bangladesh Student’s Federation General Secretary Ashraful Alam Shohel said: “Government’s silence on such crucial issue is not only frustrating but it goes in favor of question leak. We will continue support to the admission seekers until their demands are met and we want proper punishment of culprits who are behind the question leak.”

Chhatra Union Vice-President Liton Nandi whose party has already expressed solidarity with the ongoing protest said they would not lift the blockade unless their demand is met.

Today is the 19th day of their demonstration following allegations of question paper leakage. The students have been observing a strike in the public universities along with sit-in programme across the country.

Progotishil Chhatra Jote and Samrajjobad Birodhi Chhatra Oikya expressed solidarity with the students.
