RTNN News Desk: Hosts Bangladesh conceded a 1-3 goals defeat against Kyrgyzstan in a crucial match of FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday evening.

Bangladesh started brightly and piled up pressure upon the visitors but conceded the first goal in the 8th minute. It was the very first free kick earned by Kyrgyzstan and forward Anton Zemlyanuhin curved the ball in from about 26 yards (1-0).

Bangladesh conceded the second in the 28th minute off a penalty. Defender Yamin Munna brought Kyrgyz forward Viktor Maier down in the left corner inside the box and Edgar Bernhardt stepped up to convert the penalty (2-0).

However Bangladesh reduced the margin in the 31st minute when Kyrgyz defender Valeri Kichin in his effort to clear a corner of Bangladesh skipper Mamunul Islam headed the ball into his own net (2-1).

Anton Zemlyanuhin added his second to take the control back to Kyrgyzstan when he powered past the Bangladesh defence and unleashed a cracking left footer that landed into the middle of the net (3-1).

Two minutes after the interval Mamunul Islam saw his free kick fly over the crosspiece.

In the 84th minute Edgar Berhanndt’s fierce right footer from the top of the box was fisted to safety by Bangladesh goalie Russell Mahmud Liton.

Bangladesh faces Tajikistan in the next match at Dhaka on 16 June.
